Influenced by the work of directors Robert Fishman and Beth McCarthy-Miller, Scott was drawn to the craft of directing live productions while a freshman in high school. He began with live-to-tape music and talent shows before delving into sports documentaries and later live-to-tape high school sports coverage.

In college, he directed a variety of live sports, including college and high school football, college basketball, college volleyball, college and high school soccer as well as several live sports studio shows and newscasts.

Scott created and produced the Telly and Davey Award-winning entertainment pilot, On'CUSE, as well as the KAB Award-winning sports interview special, KU Q&A. He created, produced and directed the sketch comedy show, Mildly Off the Wall, and directed the line cut of Neutral Ground, a PBS pilot produced by The Robert J. Dole Institute of Politics.

Aside from directing, Scott has written a newspaper comic strip, produced numerous audio podcasts and designed websites. He currently spends much of his time doing freelance camerawork or as production support for professional, college and high school sports broadcasts.
